Koppers Holdings Inc. Appoints New Chief Financial Officer

PITTSBURGH, PA, Jul 16, 2010 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --

Koppers Holdings Inc. (NYSE: KOP) announced today the appointment of Leroy M. Ball as vice president and chief financial officer, effective September 1, 2010.

Mr. Ball will replace Brian H. McCurrie who was appointed Senior Vice President, Global Carbon Materials and Chemicals effective May 1, 2010. Since May 1, Mr. McCurrie has also been the acting chief financial officer for Koppers and will continue in this role until Mr. Ball joins Koppers on September 1, 2010.

Mr. Ball, age 42, was Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer of Calgon Carbon Corporation ("Calgon Carbon"), a provider of services, products and solutions for purifying water and air, since 2002. Prior to 2002, Mr. Ball served as Calgon Carbon's assistant controller and controller. Mr. Ball spent nine years with Carmeuse North America (formerly Dravo Corporation), a provider of lime and limestone products, where he held positions of increasing responsibility in the finance area. Mr. Ball earned a B.S. in Accounting from Florida International University and an MBA from Robert Morris University.
